Maximize solar power for hot water and more self-consumption

Our AC ELWA 2 is a 0 - 3.5 kW continuously controlled water heating device for grid-connected photovoltaic systems and is the successor to our proven AC ELWA-E. The AC ELWA 2 uses excess photovoltaic energy for your water heating and thus optimizes the self-consumption of the existing PV system. At the same time, self-sufficiency is increased - this protects against unforeseeable or rising operating costs. The continuously controlled PV feed-in power is regulated to zero.

The AC ELWA 2 has our proven optional hot water backup: Even if the sun is not shining sufficiently, the hot water can be heated to the desired temperature using energy from the public power grid. The device can be installed in hot water and buffer tanks.

Advantages of the AC ELWA 2 compared to its predecessor AC ELWA-E

  • More power: 3.5 kW instead of 3.0 kW
  • Simplest installation: The heating element and the control unit can be installed one after the other.
  • Easy operation thanks to display like the AC-THOR
  • Multiple communication options: in addition to Ethernet RJ45 also WLAN, RS485, PWM-in, potential-free switching output
  • External temperature sensor included
  • An external 3 kW heating element can be connected
  • Even more compact design than its predecessor
  • Fixed wiring, no cable with Schuko plug
  • Easy conversion of AC ELWA-E to AC ELWA 2

Advantages of the AC ELWA 2

  • Stepless control from 0 to 3.5 kW, depending on PV surplus
  • Self-consumption increases
  • Easy communication via network cable or WLAN
  • Heating output is continuously regulated
  • Installation in hot water and buffer tank possible
  • System open for various inverters, battery systems and smart homes

winner of the German Design Award 2024

Sustainable heating with excellent design: The AC ELWA 2 received the “Winner” award in the “Excellent Product Design – Energy” category.

"The AC ELWA 2 converts excess solar power into hot water, thereby increasing self-sufficiency. A useful product that clearly expresses the demand for high-tech and performance with its clear and dynamic design language." With these words, the jury of the renowned award honored our continuously controlled hot water preparation device for grid-connected photovoltaic systems.

AC ELWA 2 in combination with my-PV WiFi Meter

In combination with the my-PV WiFi Meter, the AC ELWA 2 only uses excess energy from your photovoltaic system. The heating output of the heating element is continuously regulated so that almost no energy is fed into the grid and your own consumption is maximized.

The connection to the router is made via a patch cable or wirelessly via WLAN.

AC ELWA 2 in combination with battery storage

The AC ELWA 2 is compatible with many commercially available battery storage systems. It takes into account the optimal use and prioritization of photovoltaic energy.

The battery storage is always charged first. As soon as the battery is full, the AC ELWA 2 takes over the storage of excess photovoltaic energy in the form of hot water. Water is the cheapest form of storage and can be perfectly supplemented with chemical storage batteries. This means that the electricity you generate stays with you and is not fed into the grid.

AC ELWA 2 in combination with Smart Home

Thanks to the open system control, the AC ELWA 2 also communicates with commercially available smart home and energy management systems. The control is carried out by the smart home system. This means that even complex controls with consumer priorities can be implemented.

In residential construction, systems with multiple devices work together on this basis. Remote monitoring and energy cost billing at apartment level are possible.
